GCSE Results 2009
Ilkley Grammar School was celebrating high performing GCSE results again with 80% of students achieving five or more A* - C grades. 78%, a school record, achieved these grades including English and Maths.
"We are delighted to see our students do so very well" said Headteacher, Gillian James. "They deserve success and many have achieved above expectation. It is not easy keeping standards consistently high and these results are a shining testament to our students' talents and aspirations and the expertise and commitment of staff.
We are proud to be a comprehensive school that aims high and is ambitious for every student. Results should be about individuals, not just statistics."
Among the school's successes were clean sweeps of nine A* grades from Jake Cassani and Naomi Pratt; a further fourteen students achieved seven or more A*, another school record.

A Level Results 2009
Ilkley Grammar School continued to set high standards, with another record run of results.
In the National Press, Ilkley Grammar School was ranked 43rd in the Top Comprehensives Table on A Level points and 53rd on percentage A - B grade.
61.4% of students, a school record, attained the highest A - B grades, with 37%, well above the national average, securing grade A alone. An impressive 82% registered A - C grades, equalling a school best ever.
Eliza Jones achieved five A grades; Owen Walker and Matthew Screeton four. Twenty seven students gained three or more grade As. All four students with Oxbridge places, gained them; a further two secured places at Medical school and one for Dentistry.
Headteacher, Gillian James, is not surprised by the school's year on year excellence. "We place a high premium on outstanding learning and have high expectations of all our students and staff. Our students work hard for what they achieve and staff are committed to seeing them succeed. 'Achieving your Personal Best' is not just our tag line!
