The Year 11 Work Related Learning Group have been involved in a project to enhance the school's environment by building a raised border from railway sleepers which will eventually be filled with flowers. They have worked with a local gardener who came into school to explain the role of a landscape gardener and offer valuable expertise.
The building phase has already begun (see below for step by step images of the process) and the group hope to work on their border and get it built ready for spring time to produce a fabulous floral display. Councillor Kate Brown and Mrs Varley from 'Ilkley In Bloom' have also visited the group and were delighted to see the students involved in developing the school environment. My sincere thanks are passed on to Mr Stephen Senior of RW Mortens in the town centre who has also been very kind and provided tools to help the students complete their project. Any other donations or offers of help would be greatly received and please don't hesitate to contact me at school to discuss vocational learning at Ilkley Grammar School.
